My Favorite Romance Reads of 2020: Historical and SFF

This post contains affiliate links.

I read a lot of books this year, and given how many of them were romance (most), I ended up with a huge list of favorite reads. So I decided to break them into two lists. Today’s list consists of historicals and sci-fi/fantasy romances, yesterday’s covered contemporary. Like all of my reading lists, these are not necessarily books that came out in 2020, but books I read in 2020. There are also some books on both lists that will be released in 2021, so definitely pre-order those bad boys. Let’s dive in!

Historicals

Prince of Broadway by Joanna Shupe: Joanna is probably my favorite historical writer, and this might be my favorite of her books so far. So good and so hot. Full review here.

Waking Up with the Duke by Lorraine Heath: I read this one because of Fated Mates and yowza. This book should not work but it totally does. Full review here.

Would I Lie to the Duke by Eva Leigh: Eva is another one of my favorite authors, and I really loved this series of hers. I am also here for submissive dukes, please and thank you. Full review here.

Devil of Downtown by Joanna Shupe: While I didn’t love this one as much as Prince of Broadway, it was still fabulous. Full review here.

Waiting for a Scot Like You by Eva Leigh: This was probably my favorite historical I read this year. It didn’t hurt that I was picturing Richard Madden as the hero. Yum. Full review here.

Sci-Fi/Fantasy

Blacksmith Queen by GA Aiken: This is probably the book that really got me into fantasy romance. It was hot and stabby and fierce and I loved it. Full review here.

Starbreaker by Amanda Bouchet: I don’t usually like sequels better than originals, but this might be one of those cases. I’m here for love in space. Full review here.

Bridge Kingdom by Danielle Jensen: I actually read this book for the second time this year and I loved it even more this go around. Full disclosure: this one does not technically have an HEA. Full review here.

Heart of Blood and Ashes by Milla Vane: When I first heard about this book, I thought it might be too much for me, but then I read it and turns out, I like too much! It was amazing and I am obsessed. Full review here.

Heroine’s Journey by Sarah Kuhn: I love this series and I think this was my favorite of the three I’ve read so far. Full review here.

Even though historical and sci-fi/fantasy aren’t my number one genres, I still read some amazing books this year, and I’m looking forward to reading even more in 2021.
