If you hung out with me at all last holiday season, you know I made it my mission to watch as many holiday romance movies as I could possibly squeeze into one tiny season. Keep in mind this was still during the worst of the pandemic, I wasn’t working, and I had been doing distance learning with my first grader for an entire semester. Suffice to say, I needed some joy in my life. And watching a hundred holiday movies brought me joy (okay, I don’t think it was actually a hundred, but it was probably pretty close). And in the end, I started writing my very own holiday romance based in no small part on my journey of watching all those films, so turns out, it was research all along! I had to do it. FOR WORK. This year I probably won’t get to imbibe quite as much as I did last year because I am busier than I have ever been in my entire working life, but I still plan to tune in for as many masterpieces as I can. Most of the channels have already released their holiday movie lists (though I didn’t see anything listed from Hulu…maybe because their foray last year didn’t go quite as planned). Also, Hallmark is holding out on their end of December releases, which whatever, just means they didn’t make it onto the list!
Alright, so here’s the deal. I compiled this list in date order. All you’re getting is a date, a title, and a channel because I do not have the time to tell you about each one of these movies! (Does it really matter anyway?) I narrowed down my list based on my own personal interests, so any movie with a bakery, writers, artists, queer people, not entirely white casts, dancers, home decorators, royals, or wine probably made the cut. I did not include movies starring known anti-vaxxers because tis the season to get the shot and save some lives. Is it possible for me to watch all of these movies? Probably not, but I sure as hell am going to try (again, it’s RESEARCH). If you want to print out this list, you can download it here. Or just bookmark this post and come back to it often!
