Guuuuuyyyys. What a way to start 2020. Yeah, I’m way behind on my reviews because Pitch Wars. But I finally have some time to sit and blog and I’m going to catch up soonish, promise. But I absolutely had to do this review first because oh my god this book. I think I’ve talked about a couple of other books where I read them and was like why do I bother trying to write I’m never going to be this good. Yeah. This is one of those books. Big time.

Meg is a professional hand-letterer. She commissions planners and art pieces for clients and that alone should sell you on this book. She used to do a lot of wedding pieces–programs, invites, the usual, but has moved on after a particularly irksome wedding. Reid’s wedding. Meg hid a message in the lettering of the program for Reid’s wedding, which helped lead to him calling the whole thing off. Reid comes into Meg’s store to talk to her about it, and the two have that instant moment. Not love at first sight, but that connection that won’t allow them to give up on the other. Meg and Reid begin a lettering tour of New York (swoon) as Meg is up for a big partnership but hasn’t been able to put anything together for her presentation. Though we do get a traditional HEA, there are quite a few twists and turns along the way that keep things interesting and unpredictable.

So this book is perfection. There’s no other way to put it, it’s just purely perfect. Meg and Reid are delightful. They’re real, flawed, interesting, sweet. Their relationship is heart-melting. And on top of that, there’s so many details to love. The hand-lettering? Swoon. Touring New York? Swoon. Seriously, it hit so many targets for me, I could not get enough. This was the first book of Kate’s I’ve read (which I need to remedy immediately) and I now understand why everyone raves about her writing. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Like, I want to be her when I grow up.

I can’t say enough good things about this book. Buy it now. You won’t regret it!

Overall Rating: 5 stars! Starting the year off on a high note!
