Title: Satisfaction Guaranteed
Author: Karelia Stetz-Waters
Sub-genre: Contemporary
Alright guys, this is a book I have not been hearing nearly enough about. If this book is not already on your radar, get it on your radar ASAP!
Cade is about as straight-laced as they come. Despite coming from super hippie parents, she is the unofficial accountant of the family, running and managing the art gallery she co-owns with said parents. Selena is about a free-spirited as they come. She’s an artist who gave up her art and now works in a sex toy shop. When Cade’s aunt passes away, Cade and Selena are left the shop, only to find that it’s already in a state of financial ruin. Cade wants nothing to do with it, but Selena is closely tied to the shop and refuses to give it up without at least trying to save it. And so these two opposites are thrown together, forced to work as a team to attempt to save Satisfaction Guaranteed. Of course, being in close proximity means they each start to develop feelings for each other. Cade is set on moving back to her life in New York once the shop inevitably closes and Selena is still dealing with some trauma from an abusive ex and neither will let themselves fully fall. But we know that’s not how romance works and eventually they are able to admit their feelings and overcome their obstacles and find their HEA.
So this book literally had me from the very first page. I immediately fell in love with both of these characters and I cannot even fully express just how endearing they are, both as individuals and as a couple. I am a sucker for a grumpy-sunshine and this is the personification of the trope. I loved watching Cade drop her defenses and I loved watching Selena come into her own and find her voice. I loved watching them try to save the sex toy shop and all the female empowerment that went along with it. Honestly, the whole thing was just an absolute delight from start to finish and I am now off to read the entirety of Karelia’s backlist.
