Guys. I don’t think it would be possible for me to love a book more. Seriously. This book might as well have been written just for me, so perfectly does it align with my interests and my fandoms.

April is a fan fic writer who spends most of her online writing time shipping her favorite characters from the biggest fantasy show on TV (basically a Game of Thrones stand in). She is online friends with several others who also write for the same ship, including one man whom she considers her best friend, though the two have never met in person. April has always kept her fandom life hidden, but when she starts a new job, she decides to be more open, posting a picture of herself cosplaying the heroine of the show in response to the show’s Twitter request. Because April is plus-sized, the internet trolls are assholes to her, claiming no one could be attracted to a woman who looks like her. But when Marcus, the actor who plays the hero on the show, responds to her tweet asking her on a date, the trolls are put in their place. April decides to go out with Marcus, even though she isn’t super into him as a person as he tends to come off as shallow and meathead esque in interviews. But Marcus is definitely not what he seems on the surface, and despite some initial hesitation, the two start a relationship. But secrets and insecurities threaten to separate the pair, until they are forced to confront all of their demons and figure it out. And, of course, they do, and live happily ever after.

Guys. Guuuuuyyyyysssss. I loved so much about this book. Being a huge fangirl myself, I basically felt like I was reading fan fic about me. Because who wouldn’t want to date the star of their absolute favorite fandom? I’ve been happily married for ten years and I still dream about it (sorry babe). So the whole premise was made for me, right off the bat. Then of course, there’s the fact that the writing itself is stellar. Marcus and April have tons of chemistry and witty banter, basically my two favorite things ever. I loved their relationship and the internal struggles they both had to go through to be able to have a successful relationship. I related to so much of it, and it was so much fun to see it on the page.

And on top of all of that romantic goodness, there is so much subtle (not really) shade thrown at the Game of Thrones writers, and I was here. for. all. of. it. Give me more fandom romances please and thank you!!!!
