Bookish Box Reveal: June 2020

So while I have been an Owl Crate subscriber for a couple of years now, I have been a little hesitant to branch out and try new subscription boxes, mostly because Owl Crate does it so well, others seem to fall a little short. I gave a romance one a try, but wasn’t super impressed with the quality of the items. I’ve always been interested in Bookish Box, but I wasn’t really tempted until I saw their theme for June was A Court of Seasons and that all the additional items would be designed after A Court of Thorns and Roses, which is one of my all-time favorite series. I decided to give it a shot, and had some mixed feelings about some of the items.

First is this rose gold floral necklace. Even though this doesn’t scream ACOTAR to me, I really like the design, and the heroine in the book I’m currently working on is a florist, so I thought it was a nice little sign to keep on trucking. It’s cute and I will definitely wear it. The pin from Dust and Pages is cool, but not one of my favorite quotes from ACOTAR so I was kind of meh about it.

The Summer Court candle smells divine, and I am very into the design on the label, it’s very much my aesthetic. I also really love this tapestry of Prythian from In the Reads. You can see the full thing in the background of the image at the top of this post, and I’m sure you’ll be seeing it crop up in many of my book photos from this point on.

So this was the biggest bummer of my unboxing: a broken mug. I really like the design of it (the back has the mountains and three stars) so I was really disappointed that it arrived broken. I think I can fix it, but it definitely left a mark on my first Bookish Box experience to see an item damaged.

I can’t profess to know anything about tarot, but these cards from Dark and Beautiful Art might be what I need to get me interested! Rhysand is basically my favorite book boyfriend in the history of the world, so I love seeing him on anything. Any time, anywhere!

The book for the month was Seasons of the Storm by Elle Cosimano. The jacket is gorgeous, so I’m excited to read it.

Overall, while I really liked a few of these items, some were underwhelming, and it’s a tough break (pun intended) for a damaged item to be in my very first box. I did go ahead and continue my subscription for one more month, but I don’t know if I will go much beyond that. Are you a book box subscriber? Which is your favorite?
