Hi friends! I’m back with another month of favorite reads. February was a weird month reading wise because I was a little busy (hello debut) and it was a short month. So I read a lot fewer books overall than usual, but pretty much everything I read was fantastic. The month started and ended strong so let’s take a look at some of my favorite reads from the month!
Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon: It’s safe to say this series has me hooked! I flew through this book and I already have the second one on my TBR for this month. I need them all, put them in my veins!
Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins: This felt like Lord of the Flies meets Gossip Girl and I was here for it. I love all of Rachel’s books and so when I saw this one as a Book of the Month choice, I clicked it immediately and I was not disappointed.
I’m So Not Over You by Kosoko Jackson: This book had me laughing literally from page one. I am obsessed with Kosoko’s voice and humor and I absolutely fell in love with this second chance, fake dating, tropetastic romance.
For Butter or Worse by Erin La Rosa: Y’all should be jealous because I got to read this one early! Okay, I read a lot of books early, but you should be particularly jealous about this one. Erin is not only a lovely human being, she wrote one hell of an enemies to lovers, banter-filled delight. I cannot wait to have a copy of this one on my shelf very soon!
All Her Little Secrets by Wanda M. Morris: In my quest to branch out and read things other than romance, I’ve been getting into some thrillers and honestly, I’m kind of loving them. This is not the kind of book I would have picked up in the bookstore, but it came in one of my book boxes and I really enjoyed it.
Black Girls Must Die Exhausted by Jayne Allen: Reading this book was really interesting because on the surface, not a lot happens in this book, but there is also so much angst and heartbreak and so many relatable struggles as a woman in her thirties. I laughed, I cried, I had a lot of those oof, I felt that moments. There are a lot of content warnings with this one so please check them out if needed (major ones being infertility and attempted suicide).
Circling Back to You by Julie Tieu: This is another one I got to read early and I absolutely loved it. Julie’s love stories feel really real to me, and this coworkers, friends to lovers romance was so relatable. I felt like the characters were friends, people I might know in real life and it was really lovely to have (what I consider) a soft and sweet, low angst romance on my reading list this month.
Overall, a fantastic month of reading! If you want all my favorite reads from the year in one spot, check out my list here! What were your faves this month?
