Fave Reads of the Month: July 2021

Even though I didn’t read as many books as I normally do during the month of July, I still managed to squeeze in a bunch of really good ones. And sometimes quality is more important than quantity, yes? Yes. I should keep that in mind over the coming months! Let’s take a look at some of my favorite books from July!

Too Good to Be Real by Melonie Johnson: The concept of this book completely sold me from the get. The heroine is sent to review a role-playing hotel for her job, but not just any role-playing hotel, a rom-com role-playing hotel. Guests stay at the resort to live out their rom-com inspired dreams and I’m going to need this to be a real place please and thank you. Featuring a delightful cast of characters, this one was fun all around. Read my full review here.

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid: I’m sure you’re going to start to see some TikTok inspired reads on these lists and this was definitely one of them. Honestly, I probably would have picked this one up anyway because I’m a sucker for LA set books and I really liked Daisy Jones and the Six. This was just a super interesting, full of family drama and lush settings read and I was very much into it.

Sunny Song Will Never Be Famous by Suzanne Park: Look, I need to be going to digital detox camp myself so of course I was into the story of a teen influencer who gets shipped off to find a way to live without her phone and the scourge that is social media. This one also has a lovely cast of characters and a super sweet love story. Read my full review here.

Satisfaction Guaranteed by Karelia Stetz-Waters: I think grumpy/sunshine might be my new favorite trope and this book is the perfect representation. I fell in love with both characters, the steadfast and serious accountant and the free-spirited painter. Plus there’s a sex toy shop which I am always here for. Read my full review here.

Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon: Look, I sat down with this book at 5:00 pm one evening and I did not stop reading until I was done. This is a rivals to lovers masterpiece and I freaking loved the two main characters so much I just wanted to pinch their cheeks. It’s THE CUTEST.

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston: I mean, no real surprises here. I am usually a little iffy about time loops because I worry that something will happen to the couple in the future, but I thought this was maybe the best one I’ve read and it was delightful and also I miss New York.

The Layover by Lacie Waldon: If you’re looking for a straight up vacation in book form, well, here you go. I read this book sitting by the pool and drinking a cocktail and it was perfection. It’s an enemies to lovers story about two flight attendants and a large part of the book takes place in Belize and it also made me want to be in Belize. Read my full review here.

Overall, definitely not too shabby! What was your favorite read of the month?
