Fave Reads of the Month: March 2021

Not going to lie, I had a really great month of reading in March. I finished seventeen books all together, and for the most part, I really enjoyed everything I read! There were quite a few highlights this month so let’s dive in so I can gush about my faves!

The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna: I know there’s no such thing as a totally perfect book, but I think this might be a totally perfect book. My very brief reading notes called it “feminist perfection.” It has everything I want in a book: female friendships, found family, action, love, a fabulously built world. You name it. Honestly, this is one I will read again and again because it is just that good. Check out my full review here!

A Duchess a Day by Charis Michaels: I am a sucker for anything remotely Disney princessified so when I heard about this historical romance series of lesser known characters from fairy tales, I was like yes please, sign me up. There wasn’t anything ground-breaking about this book, it was just a fun, delightful romance with fabulous characters and a stellar plot. What more do you need?

Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers: There is so much to love about this book, but what really blew me away was the brilliance of the prose. Not only is this a fabulous love story (again, with the found family), but it is so so so beautifully written. Check out my full review here!

The Initial Insult by Mindy McGinnis: Not going to lie, this is definitely not a book I would have picked up on my own, but it came in one of my book boxes last month and I figured I would give it a shot. It’s got tons of Poe references and definitely kept me guessing, and while I didn’t love the ending, it was still a really entertaining read.

Hot British Boyfriend by Kristy Boyce: Ugggghhh I loved this book so much! It was the perfect escape read for anyone who’s ever fancied traveling to Europe and falling in love (and who hasn’t done that?). It felt like a vacation in a book, which I am in desperate need of and I loved every second of it. Check out my full review here!

The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany by Lori Nelson Spielman: Again, a vacation in book format! I am absolutely dying to travel to Italy and this book not only transported me, it totally captivated me with its family secrets. Such a fun read!

Love at First by Kate Clayborn: Look. Kate is a master in a way that is almost not fair. No one makes me FEEL the way she does. She is brilliant, this book is brilliant, and I’m already looking forward to reading it again.

Sandcastle Beach by Jenny Holiday: Jenny is one of my auto buy authors and I have anxiously been awaiting the final book in this series because I already loved the characters based on previous books. Not going to lie, this one didn’t grip me as much as I thought it would, but it was still a fantastic book and a fitting conclusion to the series.

The Roommate by Rosie Danan: This was a reread for me, but it still counts! I don’t usually *allow* myself rereads because my TBR pile is out of control, but I wanted a comfort read, something I knew was going to hit for me, and so I turned to Rosie. It was just as good the second time. Check out my full review here!

Overall, I had a really good month of reading and I am hoping to carry the streak into April! What’s your favorite recent read?
