Monthly Wrap Up: April 2022

Hi friends and welcome to another monthly wrap up. As I have been saying everywhere in all forms, April was a bananas level busy month for me and honestly I’m sort of shocked I managed to survive! I had a bunch of weddings and I started working on my (hopefully) final round of edits for JUST MY TYPE so there was a lot going on and it’s safe to say that my brain is good and fried. But the important part is that I made it through! Let’s take a look back at the highlights!

Reading: I somehow managed to finish fifteen books in April, which is actually more than I was expecting, given *waves hands* everything. I read a lot of romance (shocker) and ended up finishing some really delightful books. If you’d like to see the highlights from my month of reading, you can find all of my favorites here.

Writing: April was one of those months that had a little bit of everything. I’m still doing promo for LEASE ON LOVE. I was finishing the draft of potential book four. And for the last half of the month, I was working on edits for JUST MY TYPE. It’s a weird balance that you don’t really think about when you’re on the road to being a writer, but you have to be able to keep several different stories in your brain all at one time, and sometimes it gets to be confusing! I’m trying to find a good balance and a good schedule, but for right now, I mostly just take it day by day! Overall, I felt it was a really productive month of writing.

Movies and TV: I only made it to one movie in April, but that doesn’t matter because it was the best movie. I saw The Lost City and absolutely fell in love with it and I cannot wait for it to be available streaming because I will be watching this one all. the. time. I never thought I would want to write any sort of adventure romance, but this one made me want to! On the TV side of things, my whole world has been taken over by a little show called Downton Abbey. I’ve caught random glimpses of it here and there in the past, but I’ve never watched the whole thing from beginning to end and it’s safe to say I am obsessed. I’m about halfway through season five and I don’t want it to end. I will one hundred percent be going to see the new movie coming out in a couple of weeks because I have a feeling by then I’m going to need a fix! Why did no one tell me how amazing this show is?!?!? (JK, a lot of you told me, I’m sorry I’m slow!)

Life Stuff: There was so much work in April, there wasn’t a lot of time for life stuff. I’m really trying to be better with my schedule for next year (since 2023 weddings are already booking!) and leave more time for myself and for spending time with the kid and husband. Matt and I have both been working a lot lately and it’s been tough. We’ve got a mini getaway planned in June and I am already counting down the days because we both need it! Hopefully in the next few weeks I’ll have a little more breathing room and time for some exciting life stuff to actually happen.

April was, if nothing else, an extremely productive month and I guess I can’t be too mad about that! Here’s to a calmer May!
